Breaking Out the Double Stroller!

This past week I got out the double stroller for the first time!

I went to the park two mornings with Jack and Jayden last week to let Jack run off some energy, I got a nice walk out of it! (And much more intense of a workout pushing that thing home, uphill, than I was used to with one child in a single stroller!)

Jayden is 2 weeks old today!

Here is a two week picture from this morning...
(I'm not sure why it keeps coming up sideways.... but he's still a cutie!!!)

And his stats from this afternooms doctor appointment...

weight - 7 lb 4 oz (up 8 oz from 1 week, 5 oz from birth) :)
length - 21 1/2 inches (up 1 in from 1 week)

Can't believe it's been two weeks since I slept for more than two hours at one time!!!

We go back in 2 weeks from his one month check-up.

Jack & Jayden at the Zoo!

Today we took our first trip to the zoo since before Jayden was born. It was a beautiful morning.
Jayden slept the entire time - so he was pretty easy to deal with!

Jack was his usual crazy self, and after two hours & lunch - he was done! But it was a fun, busy morning. We saw lots of animals and Jack got to take his very first pony ride and he got to feed the goats!
Jack really enjoyed the pony ride! Maybe next time he'll try the camel ride :)

And after some initial apprehensions about the goats, he loved that part too.... amazing the amount of fun a 2-year old can have with 25 cents worth of goat food!!!

Visiting Grandparents!

Over the past few days we have taken Jayden to both sets of Grandparents houses for his first visits!

Last week Wednesday we went down to Jeff's parents. It was a beautiful, sunny, hot day - great for swimming - too bad Jayden & I weren't swimming... but we had nice visits with grandma and grandpa, Auntie Megan and Chase & Jillian. Jack had a great time, as always!

We got Grandpa Gene a tree for his birthday, and Jack helped him plant and water it near the pond!
Jayden second "dip" in the pond. Last week he just cried, this week he sat with his feet in for a few minutes!

Jayden sleeping in the cool lodge on a hot afternoon.

Yesterday we went over to G&G B's for an afternoon visit and dinner. Jack had fun running around with the dogs, while the rest of us relaxed with Jayden on the patio! Auntie Katie was over too, and we all had a nice visit.

A nice family picture!

Daddy's Birthday!

Daddy's Birthday was this past Tuesday!

The day before, Jackson helped me make a birthday cake. We made a vanilla cake and then poked holes in and put strawberry puree over the top, once that all soaked in we put butter cream frosting and more strawberries on top! It sure was delicious. We all loved it :)

We got daddy a new electric shaver for his birthday, so Jack got his old one to play with (with the blades taken out of course!) Jack loves to pretend he is shaving too!

First Dr. Appointment

Jayden went to the Doctor for the first time this morning. He was very well behaved. Except that he peed all over his face after the nurse weighed him, poor guy :(

here were his stats:
weight - 6lbs 12oz 13%
length - 20 1/2 inches 63% (he shrunk half an inch!!!)

The dr. said his weight looked good, he gained an ounce since leaving the hospital, so we don't have to go back until next Monday for his two-week check up! And his eyes still look slightly yellow, but he wasn't tested again, the dr. said it should be gone soon. No shots today - horray :)

Jayden has been sleeping a ton today... and eating.

So I've gotten a lot done today - Jack and I made daddy a birthday cake for tomorrow and I grated a ton of zucchini from the garden and made chocolate zucchini bread !

this was the winner :)

Door County in a Day!

We went up to Door County (and back!) yesterday so we could get our year's supply of tart cherries!

Jack was really, really, really good in the car. He only had one of two short tantrums, but he got over them. We left at 6:45am and were home about 6:15pm. It was a full, fun, hot & humid day!

Here are Jack and Dad by Vince Lombardi. As always we started our trip with a stop at Lambeau Field to get some new Packers gear for the upcoming season (well, Jack and Daddy did... mom doesn't spend that kind of money of clothes the represent a football team....) But the boys will look good in their green & gold all fall and winter!

Our next stop was Lautenbach's Orchard outside of Fish Creek in Door County where we have picked cherries for the past several years. We started with a nice picnic lunch and then headed to the orchard to pick!

At first we bought two buckets, but the picking was so good, and Jack was such a good helper we ended up getting a third. It took us about an hour and a half to fill all three. Jack helped pick cherries, and he also picked some dandelions for me and played with sticks and straw on the ground. The only bad thing... the MOSQUITOS!!! Jack had been eaten alive lately :( Luckily I brought bug spray, so that did help a bit.

Jack "reaching" for the cherries. One of his new favorite words is "reach". He loves to "reach" for things!!!

All Done! Jack and Daddy posing by our three full buckets of cherries. yummy! (although someone has to pit all those........)

After we got cleaned up from cherry picking, packed up our cherries, and bought a cherry pie to bring home (since I'm running out of time to be baking pies at this point....) We drove into Ephraim.

Our first stop was at The Door County Confectionary Shop where we picked out a pound of fudge to bring home. Jack acted like "a kid in a candy store" in that place and we couldn't get out fast enough!

Then we drove down the road to Wilson's for some ice cream. Mom & Dad got the best ice cream flavor in the world - Sneakers! I have only been able to find it at Wilson's, so every year I that's all I get, in a waffle cone, of course! And as a special treat for Jack we got him his own bowl of rainbow sherbert. However, he wasn't really into and most of it just melted or got all over my legs as we tried to eat in the heat and humidity.

Jack did have fun sitting and looking at the water and boats as we had out ice cream. He wanted to keep climbing down the rocks - he didn't quite get that there was water down there!

After that Jack was pretty wiped out and soon fell asleep in the car so we began out journey home. We made one more stop and Culver's for dinner and then made it home.

Jack was very well behaved and now we have 20 bags (40 cups) of cherries all pitted and packed away in the freezer (that only took me 4 1/2 hours this morning........) And I think there is still a little bit of fudge and some cherry pie left, but not for long!

Name Change...

With the impending arrival of Baby J next week (!!!) our blog will need a new name, as it won't just be Jackson's adventures anymore :)

Stay tuned for updates!

4th of July Fun!

Last night we went over to Ludin's for a 4th of July picnic.
Jack had a great time playing with the big kids! He jumped on the trampline (what a nice surprise that was when we got there!) and with bubbles, and with Auntie's and Great Auntie's puppies. And when it started getting dark he got some fun glow stick toys to play with.
He had a great evening playing and then watching the fireworks on mommy's lap - he loved them!
And he even got to stay out late - we didn't get home until after 10pm! I can't remember the last time that happened.

Campfire and Smore's!

Friday night after we got home from the pond we grilled some dinner and had a campfire since it was such a beautiful day.

Just as we were finishing eating, Grandma B stopped over. We decided to take Jack for a little walk around the nightborhood to see all the people staking out spots for the parade (which was the next night!). It was crazy! But Jack had a nice relaxing walk in the stroller after a busy day of swimming, and he saw lots of motorcycles!

When we got back from our walk we started our campfire. Jack's not a fan of toasted smores !!! But he sure does love eating the chocolate bars.... and later he did just eat a marsmallow smashed inbetween graham crackers, which he seemed to enjoy. He'll learn to love smore's eventually.

Lots and Lots and Lots of Swimming!

This week we have been swimming at the pond THREE times!!! We went Monday, took a surprise last minute trip down on Friday, and went down Saturday for the 3rd (plus swimming lessons on Thursday night) - now that's A LOT of water time!

All Three days were beautiful and the water was around 80* each time so even mom was swimming! Jack is doing really well walking around in the shallow water in his bubble-suit and he likes to "jump" to daddy off the pier and then climb up the ladder by himself.

On the 3rd Jack had even more fun riding on the "gator" from his cousins and on a giant water slide Chase & Jillian brought over to play with, and he liked to run around and play with bubbles! It was a fun, HOT day.

You'd like all this fun and excitement would make a kid sleep late in the morning... but for us the opposite seems to be true - oh well! I've accepted Jack as an early riser :)

Zoo Trip!

Wednesday morning we went to the zoo again. Jack had a great time.

We saw lots of animals - even the lion (from a distance this time).

After a nice picnic lunch, which we ate pretty fast because of the mosquitos in the shade :( we took Jack on a carousel ride! He didn't really know what to make of it at first when we were just sitting there on the horse not moving yet... But once it started going around and around and up and down - he LOVED it! And he cried when it was over :(

And my favorite part of going to the zoo - the nice long nap that Jack takes at home afterwards!

Getting up close to some kind of really big cow!
