Chalk It Up!

This afternoon Jack and I went to a free rec department activity at North.  Chalk It Up - a drawing contest.  I signed Jayden up too, but he's been a little cranky lately so I didn't want him to miss his nap.  Jack and I had lots of fun in the sun!

It was warm, but not oppressive!  We got there a little early to get our chalk and mark our square.  Jack chose number 52.
He started with a moon, then we put a tractor on it...
Then we moved on to tracing his hands & feet...
Then tracing his entire body....  then we did some fireworks, a rainbow, some suns.....  we didn't really have a theme!  I was just happy Jack sat there for the entire 45 minutes with me and he did some of the coloring!!!
Afterwards while the judging was going on they had icees for all the kids - Jack loved it!
 Jack by our masterpiece :)
Jack was very sad he did not win a prize (they gave prices for 1-3 place in each category - superhero, pixar, patriotic, color use.....)  But he did get a coupon for free admission to open swim next week - we won't use it, but he think it's his "award" so it's hanging on the fridge!

And Jack got a hot fudge sundae for all his hard work to bring home!

Laura Stollenwerk and her 4-year-old son work on a sunny day to make the sidewalks a bit more colorful.
This is the picture & caption of Jack and I that was on the Patch.com website after the event, we talked to the editor after he took our picture!
